Maat renews its warning about the increasing danger of pirates in West Africa

Pirates hijacked 13 Ukrainian and Russian crew members of an oil tanker off the coast of Benin at # West Africa, 350 km off the coast of Benin, on July 17. The ship is currently being washed away, with a limited number of crew members.

In recent years, the Gulf of # Guinea, on the southern coast of West Africa, has been witnessing increasing similar attacks by pirates looting ships or kidnapping crews and passengers for ransom.

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights has warned of this in its monthly report on terrorism in the African continent, during the past two months, after noticing the increase in piracy operations in West Africa #, prompting to pay more attention to this phenomenon that may be reproduced from the eastern side of the continent.
