Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights concluded its theatrical performance Horus UPRThursday, May 26, 2016, at the Franciscan Theater in downtown Cairo, in the midst of a large audience, which aimed to provide a theatrical artistic treatment of the universal periodic review mechanism and the recommendations made to Egypt through this mechanism, and the show met with the approval of the masses.

This comes in the context of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights’s interest in raising community awareness of the universal periodic review mechanism, and Egypt's associated international obligations, through a variety of activities based on different approaches such as training, technical treatment, working with the media and other entrances that play a role. Pivotal in enhancing societal awareness of human rights issues.

The theatrical art show was concluded by honoring artistic figures who participated in cinematic works of a human rights nature, and addressed a set of issues closely related to the recommendations made to Egypt during the universal periodic review that Egypt underwent in 2014.

The 678 film team was also honored, which discussed the issue of sexual harassment of women, which was the subject of a large number of recommendations made to Egypt, and the award trophy was received by the team of young artist Nahed El Sebaei, one of the film's heroes.

Ayman Aqil, President of Maat Foundation, said that the issues discussed in these films are closely related to 76 of the UPR recommendations, which Egypt accepted during the second session of the Review 2014, which are recommendations related to promoting women's rights, especially at work, and combating all forms of violence against women, including Sexual harassment, Aqeel added that honoring the owners of artistic works comes from the belief of Maat Foundation in the importance of the role of art in addressing human rights issues.

Mona Zulfikar also stressed in her speech that the Maat Foundation is the first human rights institution to honor the late artist Salah Zulfiqar for his role in promoting and protecting women's rights through a group of films in which he represented or produced, noting that modern films promote the return of women to the home instead Who assumed leadership roles at work.
