Maat condemns the terrorist attack on the Bir al-Abd ambush

Aqeel: The international community must assume its responsibility in confronting terrorism ... and punishing the countries that support it

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights expresses its strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that took place on Friday, on the Tuffaha ambush in the Bir al-Abed area in North Sinai, which led to the death of a number of security forces and civilians and wounding others.

Maat Foundation believes that these criminal acts aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of Egypt are incompatible with all religious and humanitarian values and principles.

For his part, Ayman Aqil, President of Maat Foundation, condemned the terrorist crimes that constitute one of the most serious types of gross violations of human rights, the necessity of pursuing terrorists and preventing their impunity, and the need to hold them accountable for their despicable and cowardly crimes that violate the right of peoples and individuals to life and safety.

Aqeel also reiterated the international collective responsibility in confronting terrorism crimes, and the importance of sincere international solidarity in combating these grave violations and condemning them clearly, and adopting a more effective strategy to confront terrorism wherever it occurs. And in draining its sources, and punishing the countries that support it.

As the Maat Foundation extends its deep condolences to all Egyptians in the martyrs of national duty, it affirms that terrorist crimes represent an assault on the bundle of rights and freedoms approved by international covenants and conventions, the most important of which is the right to life, liberty and personal security.
