Maat condemns the terrorist attack in Bir al-Abed

Aqeel: Terrorist acts are incompatible with all religious and humanitarian values and principles

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights expresses its strong condemnation of the terrorist incident that took place yesterday, Thursday, and targeted one of the armored army vehicles with an explosive device south of the city of Bir al-Abd in North Sinai Governorate, which resulted in the death and injury of an officer, a non-commissioned officer and 8 soldiers.

Maat Foundation stresses that these terrorist crimes constitute one of the most dangerous types of gross violations of human rights, and calls for the necessity of pursuing terrorists and preventing their impunity and the need to hold them accountable for their despicable and cowardly crimes that violate the right of peoples and individuals to life and safety.

For his part, Ayman Aqil, head of Maat Foundation, condemned the criminal acts aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of Egypt, which are inconsistent with all religious and human values and principles, and which represent an attack on a basic human right, which is the right to life, which is guaranteed by all international charters and agreements. Aqeel called on all Egyptians to join hands with the Egyptian state in order to defeat the despicable terror that aims to destabilize the homeland.

Aqeel also reiterated the international collective responsibility in the face of terrorist crimes, and the importance of sincere international solidarity in combating these grave violations and clearly condemning them, and adopting a more effective strategy to confront terrorism wherever it occurs, to dry up its sources, and to punish the countries that support it.

As the Maat Foundation extends its condolences to all Egyptians in the martyrs of national duty and calls on God for a speedy recovery for the injured, it affirms that terrorist crimes represent an attack on the bundle of rights and freedoms approved by international covenants and conventions, the most important of which is the right to life, liberty and personal security.
