Maat condemns the Minya terrorist incident and is in solidarity with the families of the victims

Plans to combat terrorism must be revised

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights expresses its strong condemnation of the despicable and cowardly terrorist incident that targeted a bus carrying a number of Coptic Egyptian citizens traveling from Beni Suef Governorate to Minya on a religious visit to a monastery, an incident that has left 25 martyrs and 24 injured so far.

Maat stresses its solidarity with the Egyptian people and the families of the victims, and calls on the security services to exert utmost efforts to control the perpetrators, and to work to dismantle the terrorist cells that prey on the occasions of Coptic citizens. Other crimes happen.

The black terrorism that strikes the unity of the homeland, threatens its safety and undermines its stability, requires everyone to adopt different approaches to reduce the imminent danger. While appreciating the efforts made by the concerned agencies, it considers that the continued occurrence of crimes confirms the need to reconsider the relevant plans and procedures.

Maat Foundation also reaffirms that combating terrorism and extremism is a societal obligation on all actors in the political, societal and religious scene, and that every institution, every individual and every responsible has a role to play to combat black terrorism, dry up its intellectual and financing sources, cut off logistical support lines and uncover the political cover. Its perpetrators, the groups behind it, the states and regulations that take care of its financiers and provide them with safe havens and media platforms.
