Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights mourns to the nation’s “new martyrs” of the brave policemen who paid with their blood a new price for fighting terrorism and violence and providing security for the citizen, to be added to the balance of their colleagues who sacrificed their blood in response to the call of duty over the past years.

And as Maat Foundation renews its condemnation of the despicable terrorist act that killed the "eight martyrs" in the Helwan area at dawn today, Sunday, May 8, 2016, which coincides with the first day of the holy month of Sha`ban with its status, symbolism and inviolability of blood in the hearts of Egyptians, it confirms its repeated call for the necessity The comprehensive confrontation with terrorism in implementation, organization, financing and ideology, and also confirms that the past three years have clearly embodied the danger that terrorism represents to the future of development, the foundations of community peace and respect for human rights.

The Foundation calls on all national, party, trade union and civil forces to the necessity of popular alignment, and to take clear positions that do not accept ambiguity or increase in terrorism and violence targeting the police force, and exploit the state of political and societal tension to reduce the sacrifices of the people of the apparatus or to provide justifications for terrorist organizations' political and media tools.
