Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, which has a consultative status in the Council of Economic and Social Rights of the United Nations, denounces the position of the respected representatives who did not attend the government statement session, as only 476 of the 596 representatives attended the session, which means that 120 deputies were left behind, representing more than 20% number Members of the House of Representatives.

The Foundation calls on the Council to take the necessary measures against the backwardness of those deputies whom the Egyptian people trusted and gave them their votes in order to preserve them, especially since this parliament is the most important in modern history as it carries the concerns of the Egyptian nation in its various sects, in which it hopes to pass legislation that is compatible with their aspirations and hopes.

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights believes that the deputies were absent from attending the session approving the government’s statement that it is a real waste of the confidence that the people gave them, disregarding their interests and disregarding their true role as representatives of the people.

In this regard, Ayman Aqil, head of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights stated that the absence of representatives is not new, but rather a phenomenon. Almost no session took place in the presence of more than 80% from the number of members of the House of Representatives except for the procedural session and the speech of President Sisi and the speech of King Salman

Aqeel also made it clear that the appearance of the parliamentarians as they gathered around the ministers, requesting visas, to return to us the same appearance that we saw before the January 25 revolution of the weakness and weakness of the parliament, and the deputies must realize that their real role is to hold the government accountable and not bend to the request of it.
