Maat issues the ninth report to monitor the performance of Parliament

 The issuance of two laws on civil service and illegal immigration and the continuing absence of representatives

In the context of its follow-up to the role of the legislature, and its keenness to enable citizens to follow the performance of their elected representatives, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights issued the ninth report to follow up on the performance of the House of Representatives, which covers the month of October 2016

The period covered by the report witnessed Parliament issuing the Civil Service Laws and Combating Illegal Immigration and referring the Transitional Justice Law for discussion.

The session for approving the Civil Service Law witnessed the absence of more than 27% from the total number of deputies, which led to the approval of the law with only 67% of the total number of deputies as a result of some abstaining and rejecting others.

The report also dealt with the House of Representatives discussing some international agreements signed by the President of the Republic for ratification or review, especially in the field of petroleum. The report also monitored the increase in the number of requests for information and urgent statements submitted by MPs

The report discussed the diplomatic and external role of parliament, focusing on the celebration organized by the parliament to mark the 105th anniversary of the start of parliamentary life in Egypt.

The report also monitored the deputies ’continuing to provide public, private and in-kind services to the people of the constituencies as a natural result of the absence of local councils so far, which led to the absence of some members of Parliament from attending important sessions of Parliament.

The Maat report concluded that the parliamentary performance improved completely with the beginning of the second session of Parliament, which was evident in the beginning of the improvement in the level of discussions, with the presence of close cooperation between the parliamentarians and the government in the areas that were also agreed upon in terms of parliament using its tools in facing the problems related In the executive administration of the state
