Maat issues the fifth report to follow up the performance of parliament - the absence of legislation and the head of the parliament's altercations with the representatives, the most prominent of the negatives

In the context of its follow-up to the role of the legislature, and its keenness to enable citizens to follow the performance of their elected representatives, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights issued the fifth report to follow up on the performance of the House of Representatives, which covers the period from May 11 to June 10, 2016

The period covered by the report did not witness the parliament's approval of any of the legislation that an Egyptian citizen hopes to be promulgated and whose heads are the laws of local administration and civil service, as well as the law on places of worship.

The report also dealt with the Parliament discussing some international agreements signed by the President of the Republic for ratification or review. The report also monitored the increase in the number of urgent information and data requests from last month, and the issues of multiple fires and leaking secondary school exams received the largest number of urgent data requests from the representatives.

The report also monitored the deputies ’continuing to provide public, private and in-kind services to the people of the constituencies as a natural result of the absence of local councils so far, which led to the absence of some members of Parliament from attending important sessions of Parliament.

The Maat report concluded that Parliament is still suffering from the predominance of the service performance of the deputies, the continuing phenomenon of absenteeism, and the high rate of deputies ’dropout from public sessions.
