The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights released today April 6, 2020 a report entitled “The Kurna Pandemic between Confrontation and Challenges ... a Case Study of Egypt”, dealing with the impact of the Corona virus on the human rights situation at the world level with a focus on the Egyptian case, and the report indicated that the new Kurna virus ( Covid-19) has become the biggest threat facing the governments of countries in the developed and developing world, as this virus created a human, economic and social crisis that affected the basic rights of citizens.

The report emphasized that many governments have taken steps to protect the basic rights of their citizens from the threat of the virus, according to the different economic capabilities of each government, and praised the models of some countries in facing this epidemic, such as China, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Sweden, and the report indicated that the Egyptian government has taken serious steps since The emergence of the Coronavirus to limit its spread, and this is what the representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt indicated, and the government has taken many measures that will preserve the basic rights of citizens, both with regard to the right to health care and the provision of support to economically affected groups, in addition to quarantine measures and imposing The two state of emergency necessary for the virus not to spread.

Ayman Aqil, head of Maat Foundation, said that the Corona virus has major repercussions on a set of basic rights for citizens, on top of which are economic and social rights, as it is expected that everyone, especially the most vulnerable groups, will be affected. Aqeel praised the measures taken by the Egyptian government to confront the spread of Corona virus, even if it was It still faces some challenges, including what is healthy and related to besieging the virus and limiting its spread, as well as an economic challenge, although Egypt has paid attention to this issue and has taken initiatives to stimulate the economy and support the banking and business sector. Aqeel called for more plans and programs to reduce the burden on the most needy citizens. Aqeel said that there is a third challenge represented by the failure of some citizens to respond to the measures taken by the government to limit the spread of the epidemic, and this appeared when dozens of Alexandria governorate residents went out on a night's march, and he also talked about some using the compulsory vacation period to go out to the beaches, hitting the government's measures to prevent Gatherings and Ministry of Health instructions for preventing infection, displayed.
