The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights released today, July 28, 2019, a paper entitled “Qatar between protecting terrorists and preventing nationality for the people of the nation” in which it addressed the political asylum law issued by the Emir of Qatar, and to what extent Qatar is working to exploit this law to harbor terrorist elements under its umbrella, This coincides with an explicit violation of the rights of the Qatari citizens not to grant them or withdraw their nationality.

The paper emphasized that while the Qatari authorities grant political asylum to a number of leaders of the Brotherhood organization accused of terrorism in other Arab countries and provide them with safe haven on their lands to protect them from the threat of extradition, citizenship is withdrawn from a large number of Qataris, especially from the Al-Ghufran tribe, and it is rejected The Qatari government grants citizenship to the children of Qatari women married to non-Qataris.

Ayman Aqil, head of Maat Foundation, said at a time when human rights are violated in Qatar, freedom of opinion and expression is absent, opponents are imprisoned, and their nationalities are even revoked due to their political positions, Qatar is issuing a decision on political asylum, aimed at protecting extremists and terrorist leaders residing on its territory of different nationalities. Those who use Doha as a base for launching hate speech and incitement to violence.

For his part, Muhammad Al-Banna, a researcher at the Maat Foundation, said that this law confirms the Qatari regime's support for terrorism and extremist groups, with the aim of igniting the fire of sedition and violence and causing the killing of innocent people, trying to undermine the sovereignty of states, and not respecting the charters and principles of good neighborliness. And it continues to attract a large number of symbols and leaders of terrorism on its soil, in order to implement its plan of sabotage and destabilization in several regions.
