Maat launches its latest training programs for young people entitled:

"Strengthening the capacities of young leaders in the field of human rights and managing civil society organizations."

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights inaugurated its training program entitled "Strengthening the capacities of young leaders in the field of human rights and managing civil society organizations.", Which targets 30 fresh graduates in fields related to social and political sciences. The training program will last for two months during February-March 2017 and is divided into two main components, where the first phase aims to be titled: "Human rights and democracy" To raise awareness and build the capacities of young participants on human rights concepts, international mechanisms for the protection of human rights, especially the universal periodic review, the nature of civil society organizations ’participation in these mechanisms, political participation and elections, the nature of the work of civil society organizations, their roles and types, and the laws governing their work.

As for the second phase of the training program, it seeks to build the capacities of young people on a set of basic tools that they should be able to in order to qualify them to work in civil society organizations, including the methodological foundations for preparing studies and research, writing reports and policy papers, monitoring and documentation processes, preparing project proposals, And project management.

The training program also includes a practical component represented in conducting research, drafting policy papers and reports, and preparing proposals for legislation. It is expected that the trainees who successfully pass the training program will have the opportunity to work as trainees at the institution’s headquarters, and to be employed later after passing the practical training phase.

The initiative comes within the framework of the Foundation's interest in building the capacities of young people to actively engage in the work of civil society and enrich it with a distinguished group of young leaders, by providing them with a set of skills, knowledge and abilities that qualify them to contribute effectively to public work in Egypt. The initiative is also part of the Foundation's volunteer efforts to enhance communication with international mechanisms to protect human rights and spread community awareness of the UPR among different groups of beneficiaries.
