Maat mourns the martyrs of Al-Rawda Mosque and demands that the Egyptians line up in the trench of confrontation

The international system must deter the states that sponsor terrorism so as not to leave the world an arena for barbarism

With painful hearts, the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights has received the repercussions of the brutal terrorist crime that targeted the Rawda Mosque on the international road in the Bir al-Abed Center in North Sinai Governorate on Friday November 24, 2017, and 300 martyrs and more than 100 wounded were listening to the Friday sermon inside the mosque from Among them are dozens of children.

This heinous crime represents an aggression against humanity and a stabbing in all religious and ethical considerations, and a trampling of human rights values, an entrenchment of brutality in its clearest manifestations, and an extension of the approach of terrorist groups in targeting places of worship and Islamic and Christian religious figures as part of their war on all sects of the Egyptian people after the 30th Revolution June 2013 that ousted the Muslim Brotherhood from power, and from that time the hordes of terror, violence, extremism and atonement set out to wreak havoc and sabotage on the land, without distinguishing between a place of worship, a police ambush, or a civil or military facility, for everything that is Egyptian was the target of dark groups.

The Maat Foundation offers the Egyptian people of all sects and the families of the victims the warmest expressions of condolences and sympathy, and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured, and affirms its solidarity with all the efforts and legal measures that will be taken to pursue the perpetrators of this crime and to just retaliate them, break their thorns, and eliminate their organizational capabilities.

At the same time, the Foundation calls on the Egyptian people, with all their organizations, elites, and political orientations, to band together, to align themselves and adhere to the common national values, and for each party to play its full role in rejecting and rejecting terrorism and not providing any justifications and in what degree for its horrific crimes, and everyone must support and support the measures that must be taken. In the face of this qualitative change in the goals of terrorist groups, as well as the need to accelerate the adoption of a comprehensive approach to combating extremism on the security, financial, intellectual and organizational levels, which imposes on the National Council for Combating Terrorism to expedite the necessity of announcing its strategy to combat terrorism and extremism.

Moreover, Maat Foundation calls on the international community and the international system to fulfill their responsibilities in supporting efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, and to adopt a comprehensive international strategy that stems from security, human and economic agreements and measures aimed at deterring and holding accountable countries that provide terrorist groups with funding, support, political coverage, media platforms and safe havens. The reluctance of the international system to do so only means that it leaves the world an arena for brutality and aggression against human rights.
