Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights has completed its preparations to participate in the 40th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, which begins its work from 25 February to 22 March 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland, in the context of the Foundation's program, which has been implementing since 2009 to strengthen communication with international mechanisms. Ayman Aqeel, head of Maat Foundation and head of the delegation participating in the activities of the session, stated that the International Mechanisms Unit at Maat Foundation has completed all logistical, coordination and technical arrangements to raise issues and topics related to human rights conditions that are discussed by the Council through its official sessions and parallel activities, including written and oral interventions. Holding parallel activities and arranging an agenda for interviews with UN officials, experts, stakeholders, official missions and other civil society organizations. He pointed out that coordination has been made with a number of experts and partner organizations to hold some side events dealing with the issues of the universal periodic review of Egypt, as Egypt will be subject to the review of the human rights file in November 2019, and the door for submitting reports from civil society organizations will close in March. The Foundation will release its report on the extent of fulfillment of Egypt's pledges that it has accepted fully or categorically in March 2015.

Aqeel also stated that the Foundation will hold parallel events to discuss guarantees of respect for human rights in the context of combating terrorism and the impact of foreign military interventions on the human rights situation in the region, and revealed that the Foundation has prepared a comprehensive analysis of these two extremely serious issues through which it adopts an integrated approach to address them and present them to the system. Internationalism.

It is worth noting that the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights had participated in all the UN activities that were held in 2018, and produced a report - the first of its kind - on the human rights situation in the Arab region from the perspective of human rights protection mechanisms.

Maat is currently the coordinator of North Africa in the group of major non-governmental organizations in Africa, affiliated to the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. European, Arab and African organizations.

Aqeel revealed that the Foundation will issue a daily periodic bulletin on the activities and activities of the Council to help the Arab and Egyptian reader and observer to follow up everything related to the session, its results, decisions, and the activities of the concerned parties participating in it, and this bulletin has been prepared for it by two parallel teams working in an integrated manner from Geneva and Cairo at the same time to ensure the presentation of Reliable information and factual analysis of the Council's business.

In the same context, Maat Foundation will provide Egyptian and Arab journalists, media professionals, civil society organizations, researchers and decision makers with periodic information on the nature of its written and oral interventions during the official sessions of the Council, as the Foundation will, in turn, announce its distinguished and important contributions in this regard.
