The Policy Analysis Unit of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights issued an analytical paper entitled “Arab NATO ... Between Peace Opportunities and Combating Terrorism in the Region”. The paper tries to shed light on one of the international issues that topped the concerns of decision-makers in the world and had a wide impact in the press and international media, which is the idea of launching an Arab security and military alliance similar to NATO under the name of the "Middle East Strategic Alliance", especially since the launch call This alliance came at the behest of the United States of America.

The paper attempts to clarify the objectives and importance of this alliance for both the American administration and the Arab countries, and the extent to which it can be implemented, as well as clarifying the security and military risks that threaten the Arab countries, and the extent of the impact of the Gulf crisis in being an obstacle to achieving this alliance. The study sheds light on the possibility of the coalition's contribution to supporting peace and curbing human rights violations against Arab citizens, and the extent to which the coalition can actively participate in eliminating terrorism and drying its sources, in addition to setting horizons and motives for resolving the Palestinian issue and pressuring Israel to stop its violations against the Palestinians without any The Arabs are involved in its inclusion of this alliance in a way that makes it rejected at the Arab popular level and gives Israel more legitimacy to persist in its violations of the rights of the Palestinians.

The idea of launching the alliance comes at the height of the Gulf crisis and the boycott of Qatar by some countries because of their interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and the accusations they face of supporting terrorism, which raises questions about the possibility of the current crises impeding the idea of establishing the alliance, or for this idea to be a motive for ending these crises. And pushing the region towards peace prospects.
