Maat and the International Coalition participate in the work of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva

Within the framework of its interest in the file of international mechanisms for the protection of human rights, Maat Foundation and its international mission are participating in the work of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council, whose activities will begin Monday 10, with an oral update from the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Mrs. Michelle Bachelet, who took over her position from Prince Zaid bin Raad on the first of September 2018.

During cycle 39 which will last for three weeks; The Maat Foundation and its mission prepared for the counselor in the first session of the Majlis, which includes an interactive dialogue with both the Special Rapporteur on forms of contemporary slavery, and the Commission of Inquiry on the human rights situation in occupied Palestine under Article 7, the same item that the United States demanded to cancel before its withdrawal from the Council.

It is worth noting that the work of this session will include discussion on very important topics, including the presentation of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the report adopted by the United Nations Mission on the humanitarian situation in Yemen during the period from 2014 until now, a report that sparked a sharp debate between international and Yemeni organizations objecting to what Brought it up.

This session also discusses the report submitted by the Secretary-General on acts of intimidation, intimidation and retaliation practiced by some countries against organizations and human rights defenders, including the State of Qatar.

Among the most important things that the session will discuss and adopt is the mechanism for integrating the goals of sustainable development into the fourth phase of the World Program for Human Rights Education, which was established by a decision of the General Assembly in 2014.

Maat and its mission will participate in this session by providing written and oral statements and will hold many meetings with members, diplomatic missions and special rapporteurs.
