Maat - State institutions should be supported during its war against terrorism

Aqeel: Terrorism violates the right of Egyptians to life and personal safety

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights condemns the terrorist attack that targeted a security ambush west of Al-Arish on Wednesday 5-6-2019, which resulted in the death of an officer, a policeman and six recruits during the terrorist attack, while five armed terrorist elements were eliminated while pursuing the army Them after the attack.

The Foundation announces its sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs of the brutal terrorist incident, which aims to destabilize the security of the homeland and the stability of citizens, and the Foundation affirms its solidarity and full support with state institutions during its war on terrorism in defense of the homeland and preserving its territorial integrity, and the Foundation affirms that terrorist crimes represent an assault on the right. Life is for Egyptians, that is a right guaranteed by international covenants on human rights and stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

For his part, Professor Ayman Aqeel, President of the Maat Foundation for Peace, called on the international community to stand by the Egyptian state in its war on terrorism, based on the United Nations strategy to combat terrorism, which condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, whatever the perpetrators, wherever it is committed and whatever its purposes as it is one of the most severe Dangers to international peace and security, Aqeel also explained that terrorist operations in Sinai represent an explicit threat and attack on a basic human right, which is the right to a sense of personal security and a stable life, in violation of international human rights conventions and covenants.

The Foundation emphasizes that terrorism has neither a nation nor religion, and the best evidence for that is the terrorist incidents that more than one country has been exposed to during the past few years, including countries that claim to be democratic countries and respect human rights.

The Foundation calls on the countries of the world and the international system to show solidarity to confront terrorism and the countries that support and sponsor it, which provide them with safe havens and media platforms and provide them with logistical, information and training support, and it also urges international institutions to investigate accuracy, objectivity and professional neutrality towards the file of rights and freedoms in Egypt, especially in Sinai.
