A written intervention on the human rights situation in Eritrea

A written intervention on the human rights situation in Eritrea

offered to me: Human Rights Council

Submitted aboutState of Eritrea

In June 2018, in light of the changes taking place in the Horn of Africa, Eritrea entered with its neighbors; Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia, a new era of peace and friendship, despite the election of Eritrea by the United Nations General Assembly as a member of the Human Rights Council, the Security Council also lifted the arms embargo, and the government invited the commission to visit the country. However, this has not been reflected in the internal human rights situation, as the severe closure of civilian space continues, the deterioration of economic and social rights, and other violations of international humanitarian law.

In this context, the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights (Egypt) presents this report to monitor and analyze the human rights situation in Eritrea, which is witnessing the continuing deterioration of basic rights. In light of the government's slow and modest preparations to adopt the reform approach, it does not match the requirements of reality.
