The parliamentary observatory issuing the 12th report to observe the incidents of violence and terrorism and its relation with the parliamentary elections

62% of cases of violence targeting civilians and civilian objects The decline in bombing attempts and violent incidents continues

In the framework of the Parliamentary Elections' Observatory affiliated to the International-Local joint mission to observe the parliamentary elections – Egypt 2015, The 12th report to monitor incidents of violence and terrorism and their indications related to the electoral process during the period from 20th to 26th March 2015 has been issued, The end of the preparations for the twenty-sixth session of the Arab summit, it also coincided with the continuing work of the reforming Committee of the parliamentary election laws, this period witnessed relatively decrease in violence and bombing incidents rates compared to previous weeks.
The report monitored 91 violence incidents, in 18 governorates, the targeting of civilians and civil facilities had the largest share of the violence and bombing incidents which were witnessed by the various Egyptian provinces with 62% of the all violence incidents.
• The targeting of the officers of the Egyptian armed forces and police significantly this week, where their share was about 21 violence incidents from the total 91 violence incidents, by almost 23%.
• Continuing targeting the citizens in a direct way by the terrorist elements, where their share was 37 violent incidents from 91 violent incidents, by 41% from all the violent incidents, generally the share of the civilian targets was 62 incidents with (68%) of the total violence incidents.
• Continuing spreading the violence incidents in various Egyptian governorates, where18 governorates witnessed violent incidents this week, comparing with 20 governorates in the last week, with its heavily concentrated in North Sinai governorate, Sharkia, Giza, Cairo, Fayoum.
• Egyptian armed forces and police men have been heavily targeted this week, as their share was about 21 out of a total of 91 violent incidents, with a rate of approximately 23%
It is worth mentioning that ,the International-Local joint mission to observe the parliamentary election –Egypt 2015, is a coalition consist of the Global Network for Rights and Development - GNRD (Norway) and the International Institute for Peace, Justice and Human Rights – IIPJHR (Switzerland), along with a key local partner represented in MAAT for Peace, Development and Human Rights (MAAT) addition to 31 local Organization.
• The continued distribution of bombings and violent incidents in the various governorates, as about 18 governorates witnessed violent incidents this week compared to 20 governorates last week, with a major concentration in North Sinai, Sharkia, Giza, Cairo, and Fayoum.
