The Presidential Elections Observatory at Maat condemns the terrorist incidents in Nasr City The opposing powers to the road map's terrorism threatens the realization of the political rights of citizens

In the context of its follow up to the presidential elections of Egypt through the Presidential Elections Observatory - Egypt 2014. Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights expresses strong condemnation to the terrorist incident which occurred yesterday evening, Monday 19 May 2014, and resulted in the kill of three recruits and injury of nine police officers. The Foundation also condemns the terrorist incident that took place a few hours ago in front of the second police station - Nasr City, and resulted in the kill of 3 innocent citizens .

Maat Foundation pointed out in a statement released two days ago to the existence of a close relationship between the practice of indiscriminate violence exercised by evidently supportive groups to the Muslim Brotherhood or supported by them, and the approaching polling stage in the presidential election

This relationship was confirmed via what has been monitored during the last period by the "Presidential Elections Observatory" from the unprecedented extreme use of the language of defamation and incitement of violence and discrimination in the media affiliated to or allied with the Brotherhood, as well as the field activities which often tend to use violence or drag security forces to use violence in different parts of Egypt .

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights highlights that the climate of violence, intimidation and arbitrary killings perpetrated by opposing groups to the roadmap entitlements is indented to discourage Egyptian voters from reaching the polling stations and to provoke a state of fear and insecurity contributing to reducing the participation rates in the voting process.

Maat Foundation calls the police apparatus and armed forces to provide security procedures to ensure the safe arrival of the voters to the polling, the Foundation calls benefit from the expertise of the most developed countries in employing advanced technology in the provision of these procedures, especially in light of the black terrorism against the state seeking to undermine all the gains of the post 25 January 2011, and has a direct impact on the realization of political rights of citizens.

Maat also emphasizes the need for the national and international organizations concerned to follow up and assess the electoral process in Egypt to focus on showing the impact of declared and hidden violence and terrorist practices on the presidential election, and to propose measures to reduce these effects in the future.
