This report comes in the middle of the period devoted to election campaigning for presidential candidates, which began on May 3, 2014 and will end on May 23, 2014, after which the electoral silence period begins.

The report revealed the persistence of most private media bias towards a particular candidate, which is consistent with the findings of the media performance evaluation committee formed by a decision by the Minister of Information, which indicated that a large number of programs on private satellite channels have biased against a particular candidate by increasing the number of news about him in the news tape, And give an opportunity to guests who support it more than the competitor.

At the same time that the official media tended to be more neutral in dealing with the news of the candidates, with the media outlets affiliated with or in support of the Muslim Brotherhood group continuing to follow the approach of insults and insults towards the candidates and negative dealing with the electoral process in general, as the report revealed the selective negative treatment of the French press (Especially right-wing) with the Egyptian presidential elections.

Although the private media are not obliged to be impartial from the legal point of view, the report recommends the need to adhere to neutrality from an ethical standpoint, especially as it is the source of information and knowledge for a wide range of citizens who depend on it to form their opinions and orientations related to the electoral process, and the report also recommends the necessity of activating legal articles Which criminalizes defamation of candidates and violating the sanctity of private life on platforms that do so.
