The General Elections Observatory of the Maat Foundation is following up the mid-term renewal of the Doctors Syndicate

The “General Elections Observatory” of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights is preparing to follow up on the midterm elections for the Medical Council, which will be held on Friday October 13, 2017, after Maat obtains the approval of the Higher Committee that supervises the electoral process.

The committee had announced the final lists of the names of the candidates for the elections on the seats of the General Syndicate of Doctors and the subsidiary unions, where 17 candidates compete for 3 seats of the General Syndicate at the level of the Republic for more than 15 years , And the 13 candidates are competing for 3 seats in the General Syndicate at the level of the Republic, for less than 15 years of registration While 21 candidates are competing for the 6-seat union seats for representatives of regions.

It is worth noting that the “General Elections Observatory” is one of the main work programs of the Maat Foundation, and it is the permanent institutional mechanism through which the Foundation works in the field of supporting democracy and the integrity of electoral processes and referendums, whether they are general or those limited to members of various community organizations such as unions, federations, clubs and others. Over the past years, the Observatory has contributed to following up all electoral elections and referendums, and has been working since mid-July to follow up on the presidential elections to be held in the first half of 2018.

Maat Foundation will form a team of field observers to monitor and document everything related to the electoral process. The Foundation will also publish at a later time a report that includes its evaluation of the electoral process in light of the ruling legal rules and recognized standards for free and fair elections.

Maat's interest in following the midterm elections for the Doctors Syndicate stems from its belief in the pivotal role that trade union organizations play in social cohesion and support for democracy and good governance.
