Comics exhibition “feather UPR“In the heart of Cairo in early December and in Geneva in early 2018
Arab and international participations to enrich the exhibition and Egypt's international pledges on the plastic artist's agenda
"Freedom of expression and women's rights" are among the priorities for the work presented
On the occasion of the approaching date of the third session of Egypt in the universal periodic review, and the accession of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights to the membership of the National Committee concerned with the periodic review mechanism before the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Foundation, in cooperation with the Egyptian Cartoon Association, organizes a caricature exhibition "FeatherUPR“, Which lasts over the course of 5-6 December 2017, At Al-Falaki Theater - the campus of the American University in Tahrir Square.
The exhibition includes a selection from among more than 300 artworks presented by more than 80 Egyptian, Arab and international artists that address the human rights situations related to the Universal Periodic Review of Egypt 2014 and Egypt's international pledges, including a group of specific issues that met with a great response from Artists, on top of which are freedom of expression and women's rights.
The opening ceremony will be hosted by the plastic artist. Gomaa Farhat, President of the Egyptian Cartoon Association, and plastic artist. Yasser Jeissah, head of the competition jury, in addition to a group of media professionals, artists, pioneers of public work and those interested in artistic and cultural affairs in Egypt.
It is worth noting that the exhibition is open to the public throughout the two days, and it is expected that the exhibition will be held in Geneva, at the United Nations headquarters, on the sidelines of the 37th session of the Human Rights Council, which is expected to take place in March 2018.
