The school fees bulletin for the year 2014/2015 Neglected the prisoners children right in tuition exemption

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights concluded yesterday the 4th workshop for education directorates officials, social solidarity directors and board of trustees members at Imbaba and Boulaq in the framework of the implemented education workshops by the "Integration And Rehabilitation" project. The "Integrated Protection for the Families of Prisoners and Detainees – Integration and Rehabilitation" project implements training workshops for education departments officials, social solidarity departments and board of trustees members in Cairo and Giza governorates target areas by the project namely: Imbaba and Boulaq; Maasra and Atfeeh; Dar elsalam, Basateen and Khalifa). The workshop addressed the roles provided by the ministry of education and the ministry of social solidarity to support the marginalized families children. The workshop sessions tackled the ministerial decisions and administrative practices that prevent the prisoners families and their children from their guaranteed rights by the law and constitution. Such as the tuition decision for 2014/2015 stipulates to pardon the children of martyrs and orphans of the school fees with neglecting the prisoners children. The participants were irritated by the decision specially when the lack of paying to the tuition results in the prevention of receiving other services such as health insurance, school trips etc. the participants demanded the decision makers in the ministry to reconsider the decision and look carefully into its results on the marginalized groups such as prisoners families, when the board of trustees members condemned the decision as opposing to the interests of the prisoners children. Maat Foundation calls the officials and supporters of the marginalized groups to facilitate these groups obtaining to their constitutional and legal rights including school fees exemption, facilitating the procedures of obtaining social security pensions and providing them with integration and rehabilitation programs to be effective in the community again.
