An intensive workshop on what is international humanitarian law and international mechanisms  

The International Humanitarian Law Unit, in cooperation with the International Mechanisms for the Protection of Human Rights Unit, the African Affairs and Sustainable Development Unit, organized an intensive one-day workshop on what international humanitarian law, the reality of implementation, and the role of international mechanisms in cooperation with the United Nations simulation model at Helwan University, for the institution’s endeavor to enhance and develop capacities Youth and education in human rights programs and awareness and dissemination of international humanitarian law among academic circles

 The session dealt with a number of different aspects, most notably the definition of the United Nations Human Rights Council, what are the sustainable development goals, the mechanisms of action of international organizations, the nature of international humanitarian law, the current reality of conflicts, and the role of the Security Council.

 How much did the workshop shed light on the role of Maat and how civil society works? What is its importance? Maat team and Foundation President, Dr. Ayman Aqeel, answered all these questions during the interactive working sessions and the five-hour question-and-answer session.

At the end of the workshop, an activity related to how to achieve the sustainable development goals was carried out. Participants were assigned to develop their vision for those goals. Students were divided into groups and presented their vision on achieving the sustainable development goals.

 Our rich discussions took place throughout the day in light of SDG 17 “Partnerships“.
