228 Egyptian NGOs publish the results of their follow-up to Egypt's international obligations

The coalition report monitors challenges related to terrorism, freedom of civil work, and fulfillment of economic rights

It is recommended to expedite the approval of health insurance legislation, local administration and circulation of information

 

Issue Civil Society Organizations Alliance for the Universal Periodic Review Third report on follow-up to recommendationsThe Second Session of the UPR - Egypt Which covers the period from February 1 to the end of July 2017 within the framework of a project The Universal Periodic Review as a Tool to Improve Public Policies during the Transition Which is implemented by the Foundation with funding from the European Union during 2016-2017.

The report dealt with a presentation and analysis of the procedures related to fulfilling the recommendations of the universal periodic review accepted by the Egyptian government in March 2015, and assessing the progress in implementing those recommendations and the voluntary pledges that stem from them. The report included (25 axes) covering the various aspects of the 247 recommendations accepted by the Egyptian government. Recommendation, and these axes included the following:

Enhancing anti-terrorism efforts, promoting child and family rights, supporting persons with disabilities, combating violence against women, fair trial guarantees, protecting peaceful assembly, protecting minority rights, protecting freedom of expression, promoting youth rights, promoting women's rights, combating torture, fighting corruption, Acceding to and abiding by international human rights treaties and withdrawing reservations, strengthening human rights-respecting practices related to law enforcement agencies, strengthening national institutions in the areas of democracy and human rights, ensuring the right to access drinking water and sanitation services, cooperating with international human rights protection mechanisms, combating trafficking In human beings and illegal immigration, strengthening human rights education programs, promoting the right to social security, respecting religious tolerance and cultural diversity, promoting corporate social responsibility, ensuring the right to economic development, improving the working environment for civil organizations, ensuring the right to health and education

The report referred to the parliament’s conclusion of the second session at the beginning of July. The report also clarified the extremely difficult economic pressures faced by the Egyptian people after the Egyptian government implemented the financial reform program through a package of economic measures, the most important of which is the liberalization of the exchange rate and the partial lifting of subsidies on fuel prices, which led to Significant rise in commodity prices within the framework of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, which left social unrest noticeable.

Egypt also faced during the same period the threat of terrorism, which is one of the most important challenges to respecting human rights within the framework of a global wave of the terrorist tide supported by regimes and governments in the region, most notably the Qatari regime, which has become official and public accusations directed by the countries affected by the Qatari government's support for organizations and groups that practice Violence, murder and intimidation.
