The Egyptian NGOs Coalition for Rights and Development, launches its series of consultative meetings in 27 governorates

The first meeting with member organizations was held in Dakahlia ..And the "local government reform" is the case of 2016 In the framework of the preparations for the implementation of its first annual plan, which will begin in the first of January-2016, the Egyptian NGOs Coalition for Rights and Development held yesterday Sunday, August 2, 2015 the first consultative meeting between member organizations, and that was in Dakahlia governorate.
MAAT for Peace, Development and Human Rights has taken the initiative to call for the establishment of "the Egyptian NGOs Coalition for Rights and Development " in the end of 2014, in order to deal with the developmental, political and human rights challenges faced by Egypt, especially after the second revolution, the Foundation has received 830 applications to join the coalition.
The aim of the consultative meetings that will be held consecutively in 27 Egyptian provinces, during the period between August-December 2015, to establish the coalition's basic srructure , and to discuss the specific topics that the coalition will work on in each governorate during 2016, in the framework of the main issue that has been the agreed upon: (the local governance's system reform) in addition to discuss the coalition's institutional structure (bylaws- administrative structure - foundating stage management) in preparation for holding the first elections for the coalition's Board of Trustees early 2017.
The first meeting in Dakahlia governorate was attended by the NGOs composing the Coalition's main bodyin the governorate, where the session was inaugurated by Mr. Ayman Okeil, Chairman of Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights and Coalition's Coordinator , where he indicated the justification of the call for the establishment of the coalition, and the discussions outcome with the coalition's key coordinators in the governorates that formed the basis of the selection of "the local governance system reform" as a major issue for work for the year 2016, Okeil also addressed the structural changes introduced by the 2014 Constitution on the local administration system, and the approaching election of the first local councils after the January 2011 revolution, which imposed the importance of the issue and pushed the coalition officials to select it
After that, an open discussion with partner organizations took placeabout the priority issues of interest in Dakahlia province, where the importance of educating young men and women on the constitutional reforms for the new local councils emerged, in addition to the need for observing local councils elections in order to ensure their fairness and freedom, as participants discussed the coalition's statute the and time arrangements to finalize the bylaws and the foundating stage management, as well as providing funding sources for the coalition to implement its activities.
