E-Symposium on the Sidelines of the 2023 Partnership Forum of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
Strengthening International and Regional Partnerships and their Role in Advancing Sustainable Development in Africa
Background

Within the framework of its interest in advancing the wheel of sustainable development and on the sidelines of the 2023 Partnership Forum of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and under the activities of the Cross-Cutting Programs cluster in the African Union Economic, Social, and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC).

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights is organizing E-Symposium on: “The Role of International and Regional Partnerships in Advancing the Wheel of Sustainable Development in Africa”, which comes in consistent with the 2023 HLPF theme of the forum 2023, “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels”.

The E-Symposium will shed light on the role of international and regional partnerships in accelerating sustainable development. It will also discuss the importance of cooperation between the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and the Economic and Social Council of the African Union and how experiences can be exchanged to achieve maximum benefit in the field of sustainable development, as well as the role of civil society institutions in strengthening development partnerships between these different sectors.

The E-Symposium will focus on the importance of international and regional partnerships in advancing the sustainable development goals of 2023, according to the High-Level Political Forum 2023. It reviews in-depth Goals 6 on clean water and sanitation, 7 on affordable and clean energy, 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, 11 on sustainable cities and communities, and 17 on partnerships for the Goals.
