Brief on the project:

Violent extremism constitutes an alarming raising phenomenon worldwide. It is expressed through actions of lone individuals driven by an extreme “ideology” which gives reasoning violence, or by group action in organized teams on a basis of an elaborated strategy threats and attacks as it is the case of terrorist groups.
Our project aspires to examine the roots of this phenomenon. We will try on the one hand to exchange ideas and determine the various reasons behind this extremist behavior, on the other hand, to elaborate the social, economic, political and psychological consequences worldwide in a globally changing world. The role of internet and social media as a powerful means of recruitment and reinforcement of extreme violence will also be put under the microscope. Changing moral values, increasing refugee and migration flows and a spreading economic crisis will be considered as directly correlated to the rise of extreme violence.
