Maat holds a training workshop on hate speech on social media and mechanisms to confront it

Okeil: We must strengthen the role of NGOs in combating extremism by spreading the values of tolerance and promoting dialogue

As part of its interest in activities to peace and combat extremism and hate speech, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights organized a training workshop on hate speech on social media.

The training focused on the role of civil society organizations in combating extremism by spreading the values of tolerance and promoting dialogue. While the training dealt with several other concepts related to hate speech, it also included activities and working groups to formulate mechanisms on combating hate speech and other practices resulting from it, with the attendance of about 25 participants.

It is worth mention that, this training came as a continuation of the previous European program in which Maat participated on supporting peace and rejecting hate speech, which came in cooperation with Green Elephant Foundation - Poland and the International Alliance for Integration and Sustainability in Malta, funding from the European Union, which was held in Poland last May, with the participation of 30 young men and women from 11 Arab and European countries.
